I've been running my own modded 1.7.10 Minecraft server for some time. I initially used a hosting service, but now I'm setting it up on an old PC. I've connected locally and tried to reach it from another machine, but forwarding the port in my router doesn't seem to help. I've tried various configurations, though most work fine until I manually set the server to use my public IP. When I do that, the server crashes during startup and doesn't produce a crash report. I'm unsure if I'm making any mistakes and don't have many other ideas to test. Could anyone assist me?
You may not be linked to CGN if you can't reach it from the public. Fixing this requires a fixed IP address from your ISP.
The 'server ip' configuration is applied when hosting across multiple IP addresses, allowing connection to just one. (Or: you can disregard it.) Is it possible to access another device on the local network via its local IP address? (Typically 192.168.x.x, the one you redirected the port to.)
Visited the site, entered my public IP and forwarded port. It didn’t recognize it. I think I should contact my ISP for a fixed IP.
Contact them and inquire about being behind CGN; if so, you'll need a static IP to host for others.
I've noticed the 192.168.xxxx but can't locate it again... why? Should be under "ipconfig" in the cmd, right? I'm sure I tried before but can't recall exactly. Someone else pointed out the port isn't forwarding correctly. I'm planning to contact my ISP. It's always entertaining when this happens...
