Microsoft won't resolve the most annoying issue with Windows
I’m starting to believe the WAN display consistently lags because Windows is slow to complete its updates. Likely the latest patch was included in the Anniversary release. Since Microsoft hasn’t fixed the frustrating update process, it seems they’re avoiding forcing users to install updates promptly. Using a Microsoft account instead of a local one might help bypass the lock screen requirement.
I managed to bypass the lock screen even when using my Microsoft account on the PC. I don’t recall exactly how I did it. Perhaps? But the WAN status updates were consistently delayed, even before the Anniversary patch was released. Haha. They’re always late.
Microsoft has released an Anniversary Update and continues to enhance this (Creators Update). There’s a way to set Active Hours. A Windows maintenance schedule can also be configured. Regarding the "update and leave" issue, many users—especially businesses—struggle because their systems don’t restart automatically, so it needs to occur manually.
Windows doesn’t adopt the straightforward update method used by devices like the Pixel series from Google. There’s a specific internet connection reserved for updates so it won’t disrupt ongoing work. Even though we might wish otherwise, we remain tied to Windows since macOS isn’t currently the top choice and is also more affordable.
