This method succeeded after switching from Gigabyte to MSI motherboard
he spent twenty minutes talking on the phone and let you know there’s no phone support. haha!
Another method to turn it on: launch Command Prompt, type 'slui 4' and press Enter. You'll see a window asking for phone activation. Use your free number if available, or hide your caller ID if not. Follow the standard phone activation steps.
It doesn't function properly. Once you finish entering the Activation ID, it indicates an issue and redirects you to a representative.
That seems unusual. It functioned for me, though maybe the issue stemmed from a stable Win10 setup that couldn't be activated because of server congestion.
I encountered a similar challenge: upgrading from Win7 to Win10 for free. I replaced most components—CPU, RAM, storage, power supply. The activation failed after a random error, mentioning support issues. They offered two options, but blocked my generated Windows 10 key, leading to the 0xC004C003 error on activation.
#1 Buy Windows 10 – My take: No, it wasn’t supposed to be free!
#2 Reinstall with Windows 7 and upgrade to 10, then move programs/data – Not practical.
I tried searching but found no quick fix. Eventually, I opted for a clean install using Windows 10 with the GenuineTicket.xml file. I followed these steps:
1. Disconnect all drives.
2. Plug in an old drive without data.
3. Install Windows 7 (Win7 Ultimate x64 Upgrade) using new hardware.
4. Disable the online activation checkbox during setup and skip entering a key.
5. After reboot, opened regedit, changed boot settings, ran slmgr /rearm, and installed drivers.
6. Activated the old version via WinKey, then entered the product key for online activation.
7. Generated a GenuineTicket.xml file using the Windows 10 installation media and copied it to a USB drive.
8. Restarted, connected the new drives, and activated Windows 10 normally.
It worked! No need to reinstall the main system. This method didn’t require a full replacement.
