The most affordable option would be to upgrade to Windose 8 or 10 directly.

Yes, you can run Windows 10 with 2GB of RAM, though performance may be limited.

It doesn't make sense to spend money on upgrades right now. You're past the point where a new PC is necessary.

Upgrade to Windows 10 is free, but it may become slow with only 2GB RAM. It could be frustrating, especially with the old hard drive. Think about giving up on this setup—it's probably not worth it to fix parts. If you must stay, downgrade Teams; an older version usually works for a couple more years. You might try Xubuntu (a lighter Ubuntu version) or something similar, but expect limitations. Teams runs on Linux, though some features won’t work (like screen sharing due to compatibility issues). Zoom functions most of the time, but screen sharing still has problems.

It's a 2GB DDR2 stick priced around $3-4, which isn't cheap but could fix your RAM problems. If you have a 4-slot setup, you might even upgrade to 8GB RAM.

They're trying to fix things, but the machine is outdated and needs replacement. Upgrading to Windows 10 won't be easy on this old device, just get a new one.
