When you launch applications such as Steam or certain processes, Microsoft Office SE 2003 starts downloading but doesn’t finish. Since it isn’t listed in the control panel, you might need to remove it manually. Try deleting the installation folder associated with Office SE 2003 or uninstalling it completely. If issues persist, consider using a clean installation or reinstalling the software.

Based on what you recall, you probably repurposed your mother's old hard drive to free up space, possibly retaining some outdated programs.

This shouldn't trigger the popup unless autorun is enabled on the drive. Otherwise, the installer should start each time it launches. Because the software is very old and unsupported, Windows is simply terminating it.

I'm uncertain about my previous statement, so here are a few options to test. The autorun settings are found in the Windows option under Devices. You might also want to use tools such as CCleaner to check if the installer appears in startup processes.

I remember this problem from the old XP era. The office was really frustrating back then. It involved a system file from Office that wasn’t loading properly, causing setup issues. After a long time, I didn’t even realize there was a fix. If you want, you can try removing Ong Office 2003, restarting your computer, and reinstalling it—just use the online version if you prefer (it’s free).
