Microsoft is struggling with the start menu functionality.
I remember my early days with Windows 7. The start menu felt solid—just click on it and find what you need. Windows 8 was a bit tricky; finding programs with the mouse felt frustrating. But I got used to pressing the Windows key and typing the program name. It worked well back then, even on Windows 7. Windows 8.1 didn’t change much from its predecessor, so I stuck with my usual method. Now comes Windows 10—insider preview. The new start option is nice, but searching for programs still feels like a chore. It’s been rough since the release; the search just isn’t what I expected. I have SQL Server Management installed, and on older versions I could type “sql” and it worked instantly. On Windows 10, it didn’t work at all. Instead, I had to rely on a web search, which wasn’t ideal. Settings helped a bit, but the problem was the item wasn’t showing up. What’s going on with Microsoft?
They still have a few issues to address that folks dislike, and it makes sense they didn’t want everyone to jump into an early upgrade. Sure, there are occasional freezes and glitches, but honestly? a long rant for Windows 10? We’ve seen enough problems already—no need to offend anyone. These threads are getting tired here, and most folks won’t appreciate it.
I wasn’t complaining about Windows 10 since everything worked smoothly. But when the update broke my search, it became a real issue.
I'm completely satisfied with all versions of Windows starting from 3.1.
