others have seen Microsoft price Windows 10 directly from their own site? I downloaded the Windows 10 ISO from their page and installed Windows 10 Pro on a computer that didn’t install properly. It didn’t activate because it wasn’t the same version as before, and the new license they quoted is worth around $339. I could probably get it for much less elsewhere.

I don't understand the reason behind these prices anymore. Even people without technical knowledge realize cheaper options exist elsewhere.

It appears you're expressing frustration over two main concerns: the pricing structure, which is determined by region, and the difficulties with downloading or installing something. The overall experience seems confusing.

I don't grasp your point as clearly... But what I can say is that you can't set up the Pro version of Windows and use a Home product key to activate it. The same applies in reverse. The Windows edition you install has to align with the product key you have. Some regions offer special versions like N, KN, or single-language editions. The key you use must correspond to the edition you installed. For example, if you install Windows 10 Pro KN, you need a KN product key. A regular Pro key won't work.
