We revisited the same conversation about Windows 10, which turned out to be quite intense. Lesson learned: Hold off until the official launch arrives.

AMD and Intel aim to achieve this—pressuring customers to purchase new CPUs and their corresponding motherboard chipsets.

The Xbox One copy protection issue highlights Microsoft's challenges in enforcing strict rules and communicating them effectively. A similar situation could hurt the product's success even if the company changes its mind later.

The distinction between official backing and running the OS is significant. In the worst situation, you might remain locked on Windows 10 until 2025, which doesn’t seem like a major issue either way.

About a year remains before Windows 11 becomes available. There’s ample opportunity for them to adjust their approach, while hackers can study the necessity of this TPM and possibly eliminate it. Unattended installations might also emerge, bypassing or disregarding the TPM requirement.

The person who set these awkward rules probably didn’t understand the issue. They’ll later grumble about poor adoption and dislike from users. Don’t take their side, Sherlock—this isn’t a fair argument.
