Hello everyone, I recently transitioned to Windows 8.1 and am experiencing difficulties with SLAM. Initially, I believed this was a simple SLAM-related problem, so I purchased a separate microphone, but it's also failing to function.

Interestingly, the audio does work within all of my games – such as Battlefield: Bad Company 2 and Team Fortress 2 – and performs excellently in Discord and Teamspeak. It even functions smoothly with Steam’s voice communication feature. I’ve contacted Steam support three times, but they consistently offer generic responses without providing any substantive assistance.

The error message I receive when entering “voice_system_enable 1” into the console is:

`] voice_system_enable 1
Unable to initialize DirectSoundCapture. You will not be able to communicate with other players.

Based on my understanding, this issue appears to stem from a problem with the dsound.dll file; however, I’m unsure of how to resolve it.

I would greatly appreciate your assistance—I had high expectations when upgrading. It's frustrating that my microphone isn’t working. The push-to-talk key is unresponsive and the speaker icon doesn't appear in the lower left corner of the screen.

Previously, I utilized SLAM on Windows 7 64-bit, where I played MP3 files through voice communication channels – while occasionally irritating, it was acceptable. So, please assist me; I request genuine help without any joking or harassment. I’m prepared to provide additional information if necessary. Any support would be invaluable.

Ensure the appropriate input device is configured within the game and Steam overlay. If not:

Uninstall SLAM, delete CSGO temporary/configuration files, and verify that voice communication functions correctly before reinstalling SLAM.

Check your Steam overlay settings for microphone options, and verify that your microphone is configured as the primary device within Windows.
