The signal range is quite large for Bluetooth. You might extend it using specialized equipment, though I’m unsure if this affects the pins. It’s also conceivable that the directional antenna in such devices is larger than the actual unit itself.

You could connect items to the pins, but it depends on what you're trying to achieve. Antenna wires usually work for radio signals, not general electronics. Make sure the setup matches your circuit needs.
