LBG construction can be a bit challenging to manage. It’s especially important to focus on creating around your intended monsters, something even more crucial for LBG compared to other weapons in the game. The most effective ammo choices for LBG are elemental-based projectiles. While slicing works, it can be tough to execute well. The single key ability for LBG will be Ammo Up. If you choose elemental ammo, boosting your stat by +2 or +3 for the element you’re using is essential; prioritize critical skills and allocate higher values (+4 or more) to elemental attacks, as a boost of +4 usually doesn’t increase damage.
Slice strategies are simpler but still require ammo upgrades to +3, relying mainly on critical hits. Max’s build could be balanced for all-around performance, and exploiting weaknesses is beneficial if you can target vulnerable areas. A max of +3 with a weakness exploit could give an 80% chance of critical hits when hitting weak points fully charged.
If you’re leaning toward a slice-focused build, remember to carry extra 30 slice berries alongside your ammo. Produce more slice ammo during fights and restock at camp whenever possible.
Additionally, keep in mind that various LBGs excel with different ammo types. What suits slicing won’t automatically suit fire-based builds. Always consider ammo statistics when planning your strategies. Ideally, aim for minimal recoil (no more than +2) and a reload speed that doesn’t slow you down. This ensures you remain mobile while firing and managing your supplies.
Yeah, LBG is a bit tricky and IMO way less challenging than before. I tried the Karma version, it worked well for big hunts 3-4 but I gave up when I hit that spiky boss. Now I'm using the Insect Blade (Cat Light) and planning to tackle the Empress Cane Tree. Probably won't try LBG again in this game.
I haven't used a lance because it limits movement. I like to move a lot. However, I've noticed that people using lance mains often cause damage, so it doesn't suit my style.

Best choice is empress cane tree. Just received the base and am growing Styx one on my own.
Discussing the event one? Or just a lunastra hunt?
But yes, lunastra can be tough. Particularly if it executes a supernova move. In arena battles, having other players is helpful. Someone can guide the monster to a specific area and then set traps to deal big damage.
Personally, I run the event where you have odoggo and pickle to battle first before facing lunastra. I managed to secure the gem last night during one of those runs.
I'm not joking—several of us did that run recently. Mostly I jump into SOS to assist others in taking down monsters.
DAMN dude. you're really lucky. I'm talking about the event since it's the first time I'll meet the lunastra. I'm okay fighting her, but in a 15 to 30 minute time frame, I can't. Probably around 40 minutes max and maybe a cart. By the way, I'm playing the PC version.
Same here. I'm also on PC.
Yeah, it was a solid team for that run. It's great when you have one person handling support, another focusing on heavy hitting, someone managing range, and me taking care of mounts, plus Eldersealing the bug to keep the supernova at bay.
