Steam feedback mostly highlights poor performance and frequent complaints about a problematic port. However, in the Benchmark test it performed adequately, though some unavoidable stutters were noted, which is frustrating. Monster Hunter Worlds didn’t significantly improve over the first couple of years. Overall, it feels enjoyable, and Monster Huntery is sufficient to make up for any issues. If it really underperforms compared to benchmarks, I’ll consider returning it—though I already have a clear idea of the settings that could help. I’m planning to try the HD texture pack if my 8GB VRAM is enough.
Don't expect amazing visuals from the HD texture pack. It's fine if you're familiar with previous MH games and what to anticipate. You'll likely spend 10-20 hours on the story, after which the real action kicks in. I've already logged over 40 hours and can probably add another 40 by playing with friends or hunting for specific items. My current rig runs a 3070ti with 1440p ultrawide and high settings, though there are some frame drops. I've adjusted a few settings to balance between medium and high performance. The HD texture pack isn't working on my setup right now.
Ah yah... Can you lend me, say, $3000 buxx real quick... I'll pay it back, promise! Hmm, yeah, I forgot to check the Vram requirements for the texture pack, was definitely something I wanted to do lol... But oh well. That said I was able to run the HD pack in monster hunter world, which had "8gb vram minimum" requirement even back then on a gtx1060 with 'only' 6gb Vram... But it certainly required pretty long tweaking to get there, only really worked once I got a r5 3600 tbh, the 2200g before just didn't cut it for that game... Edit: oh ok they say 16gb minimum... But that's the other thing it really looks quite good already, as long you don't turn on dlss/rtx or whatever, that really dragged image quality down in the benchmark... I'll just run framegen and everything else as native as possible probably... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
It looks like you're asking about the game's enjoyment, optimization, and ease of play. The answer seems clear—yes, it feels enjoyable and well-designed. It should be easy to get started and run smoothly.
Grab a 9800x3d and a 5090 /sarcasm. Companies seem eager to think the average buyer can handle these prices (between 3.5k and 5.5k). This makes it easier for them to release such unpolished titles—think MH wilds, Black Myth: Wukong, India Jones, Raptor & Clank, and any other rough draft games they throw around.
Capcom's approach with Monster Hunter PC was always focused on pushing graphics as far as possible. They also provided recommended specs for 1080p/30fps, but those numbers only held up when using maximum settings—otherwise they felt close enough. Now Wilds seems almost impossible to play without frame generation (fake frames). I haven't played much yet, but medium settings with frame generation (which likely uses DLSS) keep running above 70fps and look fine. However, I think the overall performance feels worse than the demo, possibly due to glitches. It appears to be running low after a restart, even though it works perfectly on mid/high settings.
Beyond the poor optimization and significant scaling issues on lower-end hardware, the game still feels quite smooth for a 1080p 60 fps experience. The main drawbacks lie in the technical aspects rather than gameplay itself. I haven’t played it yet, and I’m not a fan of MH games—my interest might shift over time.
Yah, I think so. But I’m not really thrilled with the gameplay either; the mechanics feel simplified a lot. The story in the world was amazing, took around 80 hours or something*, and there were many unique monsters (like behemoth). It’s hard to see how Wilds has any narrative at all—by the time I reached about two hours, it felt like just “go hunt something!” I guess? As for performance... It’s similar to what people say in beta and benchmarks, with lots of complaints. But after realizing I had to enable FSR instead of DLSS, my frame rate jumped to 80-110 fps at 1440p, almost everything running at max without any RT. Not great for a 3070, though. Textures, especially the ground ones, look low quality, but I’m not sure if that’s a performance problem or just how the game is designed... *By the way, I feel pretty qualified to evaluate the gameplay after spending nearly 10k hours in World... -.- But honestly, it’s not really comparable since so many features are missing, and I miss the monster mounting moments.*
