It usually affects most cards, especially those from AMD. It seems to have some impact.

AMD graphics cards aren't designed to handle PhysX processing on the GPU.

It's actually a cool occurrence. I had to reinstall Windows 10 because I originally set it up as Home edition and later switched to Pro. While playing on Home, I spent a lot of time on the game and didn't focus much on the settings. I used Auto with SSAA enabled and it ran smoothly at 60fps. After finishing some missions, I increased SSAA to 4x (maximum) and achieved perfect 60fps performance. Now that I reinstalled Windows, I'm struggling to get the same 4X SSAA settings to run at that speed.

The problem isn't related to PhysX - Metro 2033. It's one of the rare titles that previously ran with advanced PhysX, requiring an additional chip on the NVIDIA boards.

VSync stabilizes your frame rate to match your display's refresh speed, which in this scenario is 144 frames per second.

Avoid this title. Check the PCGamingWiki for details. Max performance is around 60 FPS.
