Methods to connect Ethernet from the upper level to the lower part of the building across opposite sides?
I've played games online for years using wireless connections. I've tried various setups and they mostly work okay for the titles I play (recently Path of Exile and Diablo 3), but I'm eager to switch to more intense first-person shooters like Escape from Tarkov. To achieve that, I want Ethernet from my main cable modem on the upper floor to my gaming room on the lower floor, but across opposite sides of the house. I've tried drilling through walls, but the joists between floors made it difficult. I've bought numerous tools and bits, but the costs are becoming too high. I'm hoping for a simpler solution that I can handle myself—no need to fully wire the entire house. Just enough cable between floors, with optional cords along the game room walls if necessary. My current idea is to run a long cord outside the house, drill holes, push it in, and wrap it around the building before bringing it back inside using foam insulation. This is how the cable enters the house normally. Any suggestions or alternatives? Thanks!
