Merging various RAM sizes together
Merging various RAM sizes together
I have a Corsair Vengeance LX 8GB RAM with 3200MHz DDR4, and I'm planning to add a 16GB version. Both use the same model and die, but the RAM sizes differ. Could this affect stability?
My high-performance NAS supports 2x8GB and 2x16GB sticks. It uses Flex mode, giving you dual-channel up to 16GB, then switches to single-channel beyond that. This setup is quite advanced. Some problems might appear occasionally, but they’re usually temporary. Give it a try and reset CMOS if needed. I personally can’t enable XMP over 3000MHz in my configuration.
When they match, the solution should function properly. If not, it's unlikely to work smoothly.
