I’d recommend swapping in another working CPU and testing again. It’s unusual you noticed the shift from 2GB to 15GB, but it’s possible the memory controller handles data differently depending on the configuration. If you had an initial error at 1GB and then switched sticks, you’d expect the issue to appear at a different address range.
At the seller's location they weren't certain if it was the CPU or RAM, but they mentioned a small amount of thermal paste on the CPU. They suggested cleaning it and testing again to confirm.
