Grab a flashlight and look inside the slot carefully. Verify all contacts sit at the same height; ensure none are damaged or overly bent. Standard copier paper is rough enough to remove any dirt or oxidation from the contacts. Cut a strip roughly the width of a credit card, fold it several times to achieve the correct thickness (similar to a RAM stick's board), and slide it into the slot. Move it back and forth a few times so the paper rubs against the contacts. If this doesn’t fix the issue, you’re likely stuck—either fix it at a service or consider replacing the motherboard. For Intel chips, a bent pin in the socket (which can happen if pads are damaged) is possible but rare. AMD uses PGA pins, which are less prone to this problem.
