Memtest86 not working and no clear explanation.
I recently assembled a new system: R9 7950X with 32GB DDR5 RAM, paired with a B650 Edge Wi-Fi motherboard. All components matched the QVL specifications. I swapped out the RAM, motherboard, power supply, CPU, and even the SSD. Despite these changes, my machine consistently fails Memtest86, and I experience endless blue screens in Windows plus unstable performance on Linux Mint. I’m completely unsure what might be causing this issue. I’ve tried everything—running one RAM stick at a time, testing various USB drives with updated Memtest images. It’s like no one, not even Linus, could figure it out.
I used the silk-screened RAM slots visible on the motherboard. I also attempted to reset my CMOS, followed another tip about setting UCLK=MEMCLK, which seems a bit more reliable, but the latest test showed 496 errors. It’s not stable enough for continuous use yet.
It seems the issue isn't hardware-related but possibly tied to a newer AM5 model with recent instability. It might be best to wait for updated BIOS releases or consider sticking with the more stable AM4 setup. I’ll keep an eye out for any improvements and let you know if anything changes.
Additionally, there was once a caution in Memtest X64 advising against running cores in parallel tests, though it's unclear if this issue has been resolved.
