Experiencing problems with a Haswell CPU paired with a 2x16GB memory setup on a friend's PC. Motherboard model: Gigabyte GA-X99-UD3 (rev. 1.0). BIOS: F23c Memory: G.Skill F4-3000C16D-32GISB CPU: Intel i7 5820K With XMP disabled, the processor runs smoothly and reaches up to 100% at 2100 MHz. 15-15-15-36. However, when XMP is activated (only one profile), the speed caps around 2.9GHz and performance tests like Cinebench R20 or Prime95 stay under 90%. From the CinebenchR20 results, I saw the CPU clock display as 3751Mhz on MSI Afterburners while reviewing images. We attempted to adjust XMP settings manually—changing frequency, timings, and voltage—but the system wouldn’t boot. We also tried setting it to 2600Mhz with a lower multiplier (1.35v), but then the Processor Base Clock Multiplier was reduced to 1.25 (125Mhz) instead of the default 100Mhz, causing memory frequency to drop to 2400Mhz. Now we’re running without XMP or manual tweaks, yet performance remains limited. I’m puzzled because an XMP profile would normally boost the base clock significantly, yet utilization stays low. Am I right in thinking everything works fine when XMP is enabled, but Task Manager misrepresents it? - Should I check if Task Manager defaults to 100Mhz BCLK? Would that explain the low utilization? - Is there a way to modify Task Manager’s settings so it reflects a higher BCLK? - If not, what options exist to achieve speeds beyond 2133Mhz?
