I received this kit from Reddit a few weeks back, and it’s been functioning well in my games. But this morning I was stress-testing a GPU with Furmark and encountered some BSODs, which likely point to memory problems. The memtests indicate errors at XMP settings, even when I set it to 1.4V or forced 2T instead of the automatic 1T+geardown. I understand QVLs aren’t crucial, though these issues did appear on the board’s QVL twice. https://dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/So...190912.pdf Any other steps you could suggest to verify compatibility? My CPU is an R5 3600, confirmed stable at 1800 fclk with other RAM. I set all memory settings to factory defaults, just enabling DOCP, and overheating shouldn’t be a concern with my P500A. I see why so many people choose this kit, but it doesn’t work well. There are plenty of problems—just read through this section repeatedly for details. The version you’d want is without the “C” at the end and would cost a bit more, around B-Die. Consider 3200mhz, check stability and OC adjustments from there. Good luck!

Ah, I wasn't aware it's a basic kit. I've noticed the 16-19-19-39 set often recommended for Ryzen, and I thought Hynix C die was at least decent.

Beyond 3200mhz (IMC function) is not supported, and typically requires 16GB of memory; adding 32GB adds extra complexity for the IMC.

Fair point, but ASUS has plenty of 3600MHz dual and quad configurations confirmed on this board. It could be a kit issue, though I’m not sure how to tell. This is the same board I used for OC 2x16GB DDR4 to a 3600C14, but these aren’t new—just at least a year old (the price sticker says $250, hehe). I’ll check the manufacturing date on the dimms next time I reboot. All voltages are set to auto, here’s a snapshot from Ryzen Master: nothing out of the ordinary. Maybe tweaking higher and lower settings could help. I’ve also got a couple of burner shots—first one and another here. These are the first Hynix ICs I’ve tried, nothing familiar. If they’re not C die, maybe it’s bad luck today?

The 5600X vs 10600K comparison from GamersNexus showed solid gains, so I'm curious about how the 10850K/10900K would perform with similar tuning. Steve mentioned the importance of memory ranks, so sticking with 2x16GB seems solid for overclocking while still gaining dual rank benefits. Any advice on the best path forward? Maybe even starting with a 3900X could work for now.

You've run multiple memory tests and consistently got the same errors, no matter the clock speed. Memtest86 keeps reporting the same issues even at 2133 MHz. The test ran smoothly at 3600C14 previously, so it's possible the problem lies in the chip itself. Replacing the CPU in the socket might resolve the issue.
