Memory performance doesn't match claimed rates on GPU
I purchased a used RX 6800 XT with a claimed memory speed of 16 Gbps. After installing MSI Kombustor, everything worked smoothly in terms of clock speeds and temperatures. However, during an AIDA 64 GPGPU test, the memory read/write speeds were only around 13 Gbps, which is lower than advertised. Should I be confused or is this a significant issue? My system specs include a Ryzen 7 5800X, MSI B350m Pro-VDH, four 8GB DDR4 modules at 3600MHz, and a 750W PSU with CM MWE GOLD v2. Running on Windows 10 64-bit. Any advice would be appreciated.
Not something I'd worry about, as long as the card's gaming performance is ballpark what it's supposed to be. There's theoretical memory throughput that the hardware is capable off and then there's practical throughput that software can achieve. For all we know it might be a limitation in AIDA's memory test.
The speed you're seeing is around 438GB/s, which should be considered acceptable for most uses.
