Recently, my aunt gave my sister her laptop, but she used it too much so my mum changed the password. Now she doesn’t remember what it was set to. Can I change the password or unlock the laptop without making any changes? Since it doesn’t belong to us, I’m not sure about doing the old way. Is it possible to connect to another computer, copy files, format the drive, or edit the registry from my own Windows Acc without changing anything? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Remember to keep the device ready, just enter PRK to unlock it. Good luck!

Just wish the laptop didn’t have BitLocker turned on.

Her mother entered the password, making it tricky to turn on BitLocker. If BitLocker is active, I believe Joshua should pick Force Unlock in the PRK options.

PRK seems to identify only BitLocker-supported partitions. It will guide someone to the BitLocker recovery page if they’ve uploaded their encryption keys to Onedrive. I understand that circumventing BitLocker would be feasible, though extremely challenging because it starts in a pre-boot environment that demands a password before installing the OS.
