Fourteen-six gigabytes of storage put a lot of strain on the IMCA. Consider adjusting the VCCI and SA settings to 1.1-12 and try booting with XMP enabled. If it starts, run MemTest or OCCT and verify stability. Progress toward 3200 should be your goal. Edited August 9, 2020 by TofuHaroto a typo was made.

Thanks for your input. I attempted to boost the VCO to 1.1 or 1.2 using a simple 2200 MHz manual "OC" with relaxed timing settings and 1.35V on memory. It didn’t even start properly. Once I exceeded that setting, it failed to boot immediately. It’s confusing how the system behaves.

Yeah, all four are Corsair LPX 3000 Mhz C15. The latest BIOS is installed on my motherboard. I tested each stick in pairs, swapping them around. In a 32 GB setup (two DIMMs), it runs smoothly at 3000 Mhz whether you're using one bank or the other. However, when all four are connected together, it stops working. It caps at 2133 MHz. I don’t know what’s happening, but I think something went wrong when one DIMM was inserted incorrectly.

It's worth considering if the CPU's memory controller might be faulty, rather than the RAM or motherboard.

I've just placed an order for a 9900K and will check it out. I was thinking about an upgrade anyway, and the recent price drop on this CPU is great, especially since it's a drop-in for my current setup. I'll stick with the 8700K for my dad's PC; he'll need a upgrade for Flight Sim 2020, and we planned to use some components from my own system for his build—he won't require more than 32 GB of RAM ever. If it's an IMC, it shouldn't be a problem. If not, I'll take another look. I might go with LGA 1200 or hold off until Zen 3 is available.
