My 6gb of RAM is cached because I previously had an integrated GPU. After upgrading to a dedicated GPU, that cache is no longer needed. Many games crash when idle, and reports suggest insufficient memory allocation. How does this happen? Well, around 4-5gb gets used while I’m not actively using the PC, yet my total limit is 10gb. The remaining 5gb is reserved for the GPU, meaning only 10gb of RAM is available overall. Out of that, 5gb is allocated to games and browsing, leaving 5gb free for other tasks like video games or a browser. It’s pretty interesting how memory works in this setup.
Caching doesn't indicate iGPU usage. Hardware allocation would mean it's being used by the GPU. Everyone has a small reserved portion; my system lacks an iGPU and has 75MB available. Yours is at 106MB, suggesting the GPU isn't running. Also, I currently have 20GB in cache—this reflects normal RAM usage in modern Windows.
