Yesterday I finally started playing The Witcher 3. After about two hours, I was playing as Geralt and everything felt fine. Running at 60-75 FPS on my GTX 970 was smooth. Today I switched to Ciri, but the experience wasn’t great. There were massive FPS drops when logging in—I was stuck around the 40s. I lowered everything to Low, and luckily it held steady in the low 50s. Looking at my GPU, it was running at 99% but using only about 800-1000MB of memory. That’s unusual. What’s happening? Any suggestions would help.

It's typical for your GPU to run at full capacity if you're not constrained by FPS limits. Look at the graphs in MSI Afterburner to identify any other components reaching their maximum.

It's puzzling why the performance is so much lower than yesterday. If this was typical for the 970, I'm okay with it. However, it feels like it's moving very slowly.

Maybe Afterburner can provide some clarity on the matter
