Memory and suggestions for MSI B450 Mortar Max are well-supported.
Hello, I received this motherboard model for 3600x. Of course, if you find a suitable one, that's great. There aren't many alternatives, and it's the top choice from the B450 series, right? I'm still undecided between 2x16GB or 2x8GB options. Either way, it will be 3200 CL16. Most memory modules listed here are only compatible with single or dual sticks, not quad. Questions: 1) If you add more sticks later, will they work? 2) Is 3200MHz CL16 suitable for a 3600x AMD processor? 3) Would you recommend specific brands like Corsair, Crucial G.Skill or Kingston? I'm looking for popular choices in my area. Thanks!
The Mortar Max offers solid performance for Micro-ATX B450 boards. A 3200 CL16 should provide most of the 3600’s speed, though you might notice minor gains with a 3600 setup in certain situations. If a cheaper alternative exists, it could be worth considering, but you’ll still be fine. Typically, 16GB RAM suffices for gaming and light tasks, and with the 3600 you won’t need more than that to run smoothly. It makes sense to opt for the 2x8 kit now and add another later if desired. Four memory sticks should work without issues. You can choose any of the brands mentioned, and it will be fine. If the specific RAM is listed in the motherboard’s QVL, that’s ideal, but it’s not a major concern otherwise.
