Memory Advice
DDR4 supports rank interleaving to improve read reliability by spacing commands across banks. DDR5 enhances this concept by increasing the number of banks per rank, which slightly reduces performance gains from dual-rank configurations. However, these benefits are usually negligible and often outweighed by other factors like memory controller stress. Most manufacturers don’t prioritize dual-rank settings, and in practice, 8Gb DDR5 modules tend to default to single-rank operation unless specifically engineered otherwise.
I'll keep the two sticks at XMP instead of four at JEDEC clock.
It's accurate based on what I remember, mainly from the idea of four RAM modules boosting bandwidth and nearing a dual-rank setup. A dual-rank DIMM provides two 64-bit memory banks per module, which I can verify does enhance performance. I’ve tested the gaming speed of my dual-rank 3200 MT/ CL17 32GB versus a single-rank 3600 CL14 kit, and the dual-rank version performed better. You can try a four-DIMM layout and manually increase overclocking to surpass the JEDEC limits (around 2666 MT or higher depending on your board).
