You're experiencing performance drops in Andromeda, especially at 1440p. Let's try adjusting your settings to stabilize the frame rate. Based on your setup, consider tweaking graphics profiles, reducing shadow quality, and optimizing texture resolutions. Check if lowering the resolution or switching to a lower refresh target helps maintain consistency.

The setup cost is $2,100 with 8GB of single-channel RAM. It’s possible the RAM usage for Andromeda isn’t visible yet.

I got bored with all the tweaking in settings, so I lowered it to low. It feels like a blend of the first Mass Effect and Borderlands, with everything mixed together.

Increase the amount of RAM available.

Most stuttering in ME revolves around AES. Battlefield 1 tends to gain significant performance from having at least 16GB of RAM, which could also help ME. I spent several hours adjusting settings to achieve smooth 4K playback but often encountered severe stutters. Some sequences ran steadily while others dropped sharply. Cutscenes usually saw larger drops, largely because they load higher-resolution textures regardless of your texture quality preferences. The amount of vRAM the game needs fluctuates greatly based on scene type and whether it uses a 32-bit or 64-bit framebuffer. Even with 6GB on a 980Ti, problems can arise. The 64-bit framebuffer performed slightly better but consumed more vRAM, leading to smoother scenes in some cases and crashes in others. The best way to test vRAM is using the Tempest, as it appears to strain the system most. These are my current settings for a stable frame rate, smooth timing, and decent resolution (about 35% more pixels than 1440p) with just 4GB of vRAM: 32-bit framebuffer, no VSync or triple buffering (I have a GSYNC monitor), video output at 3840x2160 (4K), Resolution Scale set to Custom, x0.60, Film Grain/Chromatic Abberation enabled. Texture Quality: High Ambient Occlusion, Anti-aliasing: Temporal, Post Process Quality: Ultra, Texture Filtering: Ultra Rest on High. Results: http://imgur.com/a/9x4zb 40-60 FPS depending on scene; overall it looks acceptable. My advice is to lower the texture quality slightly, ensure a 32-bit framebuffer, and adjust Ambient Occlusion, Lighting, and Shadows incrementally until stability is achieved. If that doesn’t work, try resolution scaling instead of further tweaking settings. Just reduce it in small steps (5% at a time) until you reach your target.

Thanks for sharing this! The game continues to crash due to memory issues on the GPU. I’ll test your settings tonight in the hope of getting it running. Your system specs match mine closely: i5-6600K, 980Ti SLi, 16GB RAM, Predator X34 at 3440x1440.

I managed to adjust the settings independently yesterday. Most of them are set high, except for shadows in low, shaders at medium, and textures at ultra. I haven’t experienced any issues since changing them. The ambient occlusion and anti-aliasing remain at their default levels, though the edges still feel a bit rough. Yes, I’ve seen a slight frame drop in Tempest, especially when I’m in the communications deck or orbiting a world, but it works fine around the nexus. I might experiment further to smooth the edges while keeping performance solid at 60-90 FPS.
