Hey All,
I haven't set up a new system in about ten years. The online store I used for MB/CPU Combos is no longer available. They were useful because they displayed compatible processes after you chose an MB.

I'm interested in an Asus MB/CPU Combo with an AMD processor, and it needs to work with Windows 11. I have a2 Samsung EVO SSD from my current system that I plan to reuse, and I'd also like to use my existing power supply (XFX XTR 650W 80+ Gold Modular Power Supply) if possible.

Should I visit a store like Microcenter, or are there any online retailers I should explore? I tried Amazon, but it doesn't seem to pair MBs with CPUs well. I've been out of the market for a while and I'm not sure what to look for now.

My budget is around $700 for this combo, and I might need to increase it if necessary. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

You might need to upgrade RAM for that "MB and CPU combination." Modern AMD systems use DDR5.
The website at https://pcpartpicker.com/ lets you choose a CPU and displays only compatible motherboards, or the reverse.

When that power supply is ten years old, it should be replaced as well. If you're close to a MicroCenter, they provide chips, memory, and boards in bundles. I can't suggest anything since you didn't mention the PC's purpose, and restricting the motherboard to just Asus isn't something I'd recommend.

Hello,
I'm not a power user. My PC is mainly for internet browsing, but I also watch videos and use spreadsheets. I'm unsure whether to consider a dedicated GPU or stick with the one built into the motherboard.
I currently have an AMDFX8310 with 8 cores, 3.40 GHZ, and Asus M5A97 R2.0 MB RAM.
Please share your thoughts.

I appreciate you sharing the pcpartpicker site with me. It truly made a difference. I chose an AMD Ryzen 5700X processor and an Asus Rog B650-A motherboard, along with 32GB of DDR5 6000 CL30 RAM.
I might have overspent on the motherboard, but I’ve always preferred Asus and never faced any problems before. Previously, I had issues with MSI and Gigabyte.

I hope your "5700X" was a mistake. It doesn't work with a B650 board and DDR5. Probably you meant the 7700X...

Yes, you caught that right. It's an AMD Ryzen 5 7600X
