Consider getting a new Steam deck or browsing for refurbished components. Now is an excellent opportunity.

It doesn't matter whether they could build an APU with higher FPS than a 3050/3050Ti; even if AM5 boards become expensive, it will still be the less attractive choice. If room is limited, opt for laptops. If it's just a convenience, choose mITX cases that support at least two GPU slots.

I don't understand your dream about the 170W, but a new AMD APU will still be quite impressive. It doesn't really matter if they use around 100W—those devices will definitely outperform today's APUs and might even reach close to 3050 tech. Hopefully! Steam Deck seems great at first, but you'll see the CPU choices were a big deal back in 2015... haha.

This card has a lot of great features, though I don’t like the poor crypto drivers. It really shows that power isn’t the main factor, but you still need quick video RAM. I believe the new AMD IGPs should perform well, especially for budget "esports" games.

Space isn't an issue, but my PCs are getting a bit too free-roaming in the house.

The Apus perform well in esports games, but struggle with high bandwidth and heavy textures. FSR seems to make a difference. A friend managed Valheim at 1080p low, but only 15-30fps—still not great. 5800g
