I attempted to push my R5 3600 beyond its limits, but the best speed reached was around 4.1ghz, which Prime95 or Cinebench didn't sustain for long—after about 30 minutes it crashed. Following buildzoid's instructions and online advice suggested a stable 1.3375v as safe for everyday overclocking, but I didn’t go that high. When trying 1.45v, my experience was mixed: games ran, but performance tests like Prime95 and Cinebench failed immediately. The forum suggestion came from someone who claimed minimal long-term damage on a Dera8 AUER board, though their video focused on 5000 chips. My motherboard uses voltage offsets and lacks static or LLC settings, which adds another layer of uncertainty. Considering these factors, it’s unclear whether jumping to 1.45v would be worthwhile without more reliable data.
For regular use, maintain proximity to the FIT voltage during CPU load and around OC levels. Enable PBO while keeping everything else active. Execute Prime95 with 128k FFT, run in-place without ticking, and monitor the v-core (SVI2 TFN). This value represents your chip's fitness voltage. Variations exist among chips due to cooling differences, which significantly affect the boost algorithm.
There are numerous methods to adjust the algorithm compared to simply using brute force overclocks. Some users enable PBO and use a negative offset v-core to reduce temperatures for a greater temperature difference, which enhances performance. Boosting EDC and PPT supports stronger core boosts while maintaining a higher PBO range from +50mhz to +200mhz (settings differ by manufacturer). Alternatively, you can overclock using multipliers and manually adjust the v-core. You might experiment with sustaining around 4.4 to 4.6ghz across all cores at approximately 1.3v for various scenarios.
