According to star_pilot, a 32-bit version of Windows is restricted to 4GB, and it's unclear whether that version still exists.

32 bit does still exist for some reason. Maybe for laptops I guess.

Most common motherboards cap at 64GB, but high-end options such as X299 support up to 128GB.

Might work as a simple setup, though it comes with very inexpensive kits (like Compustick) that limit RAM upgrades.
