BTW, which Max Payne title is considered the best in this whole series? Yeah, the MP3 version had realistic gameplay, but what about the first two? Since I skipped straight into MP3, the story and the gameplay were completely new to me, though I think the story is also somewhat connected. I haven't played 1 and 2 before. There are actually mixed and conflicting opinions from gamers and websites about this franchise. But overall, most people loved MP3, with MP1 coming in second.
Yeah, just like I mentioned, MP3 is my top pick too. A lot of folks didn't enjoy 3 because Max is portrayed as a drunk who's lost his way. Except for the numerous cutscenes showing him slipping into the abyss with a bottle, the gameplay doesn't match that vibe. He takes control when necessary. Paulo gives a few witty remarks at him, and he delivers some clever lines too—though it's not all self-deprecating as some claim.
Like I said, even though I didn't enjoy MP 1 & 2 as much, with some modern graphics updates and feature tweaks, they could come close to MP 3. That makes me really excited about these remakes. I'm eager to play them or see how they progress. Hopefully they'll drop some exciting details while we wait for the release. I'm sure they will, since that usually leads to more preorders.
