I’m not sure what you mean. You mentioned nothing… and referenced TechSpot/Hardware Unboxed, which has the worst data online. Good reviews for monitors, decent people, but their stats shift to suit their goals and seldom match others. Spending close to $3k on a GPU and monitor, yet saving $100 on the CPU doesn’t seem logical. If the buyer doesn’t have the extra $100 for a better CPU, then they probably didn’t afford a 4090.

Why not try these things yourself? If you did, you’d notice real computers used by people have little similarity to a basic test bench. This setup is likely to cost around $4-5k once finished. He probably needs it to handle everything. As soon as you add another monitor, keep YouTube open to watch between games, stream, chat platforms, RGB and fan controls… the 7700x and 79xx processors won’t match up. Most people don’t just use a gaming PC for one purpose. Your advice isn’t helpful; spend some time checking Techspot charts. They’re confusing. He picks numbers to support his narrative, and there’s conflicting information everywhere in his own data. You should really explore the details before relying on his findings.

It might be better to focus on discussions about the 12400. Advice isn't your main area of expertise.

Sure, I understand—just share your thoughts without needing proof.

I understand your fondness for HUB; it provides equally helpful and unhelpful guidance.

Stay calm, everyone. Everyone has the right to share their thoughts based on what they know. I wanted more perspectives to check for any major differences with my own. @Dukesilver27 noted the 7700x would behave similarly to the top AMD CPUs, which matches what I saw across several reviews. My main concern isn’t productivity; it’s that a 1-2% improvement from the 7700x doesn’t seem worthwhile. Intel isn’t on my radar right now since I plan to upgrade again in about a year or two. Even the 13900k struggles with the 4090 in some cases—that GPU is pretty weak.

Sorry about that, buddy. Just wish you get the top outcome possible with the 7700X.

Warzone would offer a greater gap in performance as it benefits from more cores. Most publications won’t rate battle royals because outcomes are hard to replicate. The 7950x runs about 35fps higher than the 7700x. Any title that performs well with multiple cores will also show a bigger difference. If you mainly play single-player titles—like Cyberpunk or Far Cry—the ones reviewers praise, you’ll likely notice no change. With recent price cuts, the 7900x seems reasonable since it’s roughly $100 more for double the cores. Use this logic to decide what fits your needs. If it doesn’t fit, go with the 7700x. Enjoy!
