I was planning to play Marvel Rivals, but the first thing that happened was loading took an eternity. In Task Manager, CPU usage hit 99% and GPU was near zero. When I tried a quick match, it crashed. Any solutions? I have these specs.

Upgrading the system is necessary. This i3 struggles compared to current standards and falls short of the game's required specifications. Your RAM usage is likely causing excessive swapping, which significantly impacts speed. Being able to run it at all is a notable achievement.

Sure, you could install 16 GB of RAM and switch to an i7-7700 CPU, but it depends on your needs. The upgrade costs around $67, so you should weigh the benefits against the expense.

Another effective approach is using lower resolution settings. I’ve been playing Monster Hunter World on a vintage "2 core" machine at around 600p, maintaining over 30 frames per second. It’s manageable—just don’t expect perfect text clarity.

For the most affordable option, purchasing it this way would be ideal and would make the game at least functional. However, if you plan to upgrade your system later, spending a bit more on a used B450 board and an R5 5600 from eBay for about $150 could be worthwhile. Adding a 32GB RAM kit would extend its usability by another 3-4 years instead of just getting you through one specific title.

You're experiencing high CPU and RAM usage on your i5 12450H with 16GB DDR4. It's common to see this after intense gaming sessions. The good news is, it doesn't necessarily damage your PC long-term if you manage it properly. Try optimizing game settings, closing background apps, and ensuring proper cooling. Regular maintenance like cleaning dust and checking for faulty components can help keep things running smoothly.
