It seems the system runs a bit outdated, and I’m unsure if this points to the engine or the developers. Bethesda titles are often CPU-intensive, with limited RAM/VRAM needs. Regarding mod support, it depends on the engine and whether Bethesda provides tools or encourages them.
Interesting observation. I thought it was due to the engine, but it might actually be linked to tools such as The Creation Kit and GECK.
Gamebryo was a major challenge for me on my old machine with Fallout and New Vegas. It disappeared on the same configuration when I tried Skyrim.
