I've experienced increasing issues with my GPU lately. When I run any game besides very light ones, I encounter artifacts, crashes to desktop, or system freezes. I've tried DDU, re-seating the GPU and memory, moving to a different slot, and even adjusting power settings. However, lowering the Power Consumption value in MSI Afterburner to 45 allows games to run smoothly, while higher values cause crashes. Anyone know what might be causing this? A new GPU or PSU could help. My specs are: 8086k OC'd to 5GHZ 1080ti, Asus Strix OC Edition PG279q, 1440p monitor.
Adjusting BIOS settings manually might affect the Power Limiter, but it could also trigger other issues.
The BIOS doesn't manage the GPU. You must handle it through software such as msi afterburner.
As mentioned earlier, the issue only appears when I adjust the Power Limit Value. Previously it worked at 100%, but now it only functions at 45%. Changing other settings doesn't trigger the same problem. The Power Limit itself seems to be the root cause. If it remains stable at 45%, will it still impact game performance?
