I've experienced numerous BSODs recently and am trying to identify the root cause. I've had this computer since 2019, when a Zen 2 update caused issues with the EC FW Update Tool. Back then, I avoided installing it due to concerns about damaging my motherboard BIOS. Once I resolved that, I replaced the board and everything functioned properly. When the next GPU generation arrived, I sold my old one, but prices rose sharply and it lost value quickly. A friend gifted me an HD 7770 with 1GB RAM, which triggered many BSODs. It was clearly faulty, but I kept using it until I could upgrade. In late 2021, I managed to get a GTX 970 from a friend at a low price. Still, the blue screens remained unpredictable, often appearing randomly. I suspect Reddit might help—I'm actually using an RX 6600, and the issue seems similar to what others face with the GTX 970. My system specs are roughly: CPU Ryzen 5 3600, motherboard ASUS TUF B550M, GPU RX 6600, RAM Corsair Vengeance 3000, SSD WD Blue SN550, power supply NZXT Hale 82. The problem persists despite checking RAM stability, disabling XMP, and using the Ryzen Clock Tuner. I'm unsure what might be causing it, but I'm open to any suggestions.
Usually things vary; occasionally I face kernel security check failure (the most common), at other times drivers irql isn't less than or equal, or the driver overflows the stack buffer.
Iqrl, this typically involves adjusting memory frequencies, XMP and Ryzen compatibility issues arise. If it's LPX memory, I can offer stable frequency/timings. Kernel security updates might be missing, so verify your Windows update status. Driver overrun suggests outdated Windows and drivers—double-check your version and install updates.
There are other factors at play when inserting the SSD into the PCI3 port. I'm not sure if it's connected to the problem.
