I'm just starting with EdgeRouterX for Unquiti and haven't used all these enterprise settings before. I'm frustrated with the commercial networking gear. I'm wondering if it's possible to connect directly to the router without using a computer on the network. Right now I'm remoting from a device already on the network, but that stopped working and now I can't monitor my security camera. I'll be away for a few days. Before, I could manage my Linksys 3200 ACM through its account. If anyone has any tips or help, that would be really helpful.

You might need a cloud key or a VPN connection for this.

The cloud key seems meant just for Unifi services. I already have a cloud controller on my computer linked to the router, but I can’t connect to the software. After the router loses network, I can’t see any devices. You mentioned setting up a VPN directly to the router—do you know how to do that?

@Falconevo - I noticed that update, maybe I should have shared it too. I attempted the process, but it didn’t function properly.

When NAT or port forwarding is already set up for ports 80 or 443, the NAT will override WAN_local settings.

@Falconevo - I don't think I've configured anything yet. So far on the router, I only did the initial Wi-Fi setup and changed the IP for eth00. That's when I lost control of the router during remote access. I'm also puzzled because the computer I was using was on a different IP address altogether. All these new adjustments are both exciting and confusing at the same time.

You're asking about using the device, whether you need a WAN port and if the remaining ports can serve as LAN ports for a single network. You're also mentioning concerns about the Edgerouter-X's interface and whether you currently have access to its GUI/Web portal.

@Falconevo - yes I get that it's about prosumers, which I'm fine with since I'll eventually need to grasp it too. Router currently is eth0 - it was 192.168.1.1, the original IP I used to link and configure the router eth1. WAN port eth2-4 connects to my devices; I remotely set eth0 to 192.168.1.1 and changed it to 192.168.2.10 (which no device used). Then the router cut my connection when I tried to access my computer. I want to be able to connect straight to the router in the future, so I can fix things faster instead of waiting home from work to set up a VLAN for all my networked devices.

Suggest forwarding SSH ports to your Edge Router and consider an SSH tunnel or UNMS option.
