It functions similarly to an antivirus but isn't as effective as other choices, offering basic protection against common threats. Yes, you should stick with the built-in security software.
Additionally, I have JavaScript and plugins turned off by default. However, the real antivirus isn't working properly—it just makes everything slower and bothers me with unexpected pop-ups.
