Major problems with Windows 8.1 performance Common frustrations users face System stability concerns
I've faced some major issues with my new PC. It's been about five months, and I can't reach Steam anymore. I can only launch TeamSpeak, MSI Afterburner, and Fire Fox. As a budget user, I moved the Windows installation from my laptop to the SSD. I removed all Lenovo software and reformatted the OS. Windows was fine until early May when Steam began failing. Following a support suggestion, I deleted most of the Steam files except for the executable and apps folder. It fixed the crashes temporarily but still caused problems. Recently, both Steam and the original app wouldn't start. I tried opening GeForce Experience, which also failed to load. I'm unsure what to do next—I have my games saved, but can't access them. I might need to replace the SSD and install Windows 10 instead. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Sure, I understand your approach. Instead of buying the license, you might consider checking out Kinguin.
You may obtain it without cost. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software.../windows10
Click 'Update now' to receive the updater tool. No licensing concerns—uses your existing license for version 8.1.
You may need to perform a fresh setup of 8.1 before proceeding with downloading the Windows 10 update.
Initially the Windows copy on your laptop is likely an OEM version and should not be moved to another device. Transferring such an installation often leads to problems. While you can obtain Windows 10 for free, it functions as a trial that never truly ends. Legally, MS Windows must be bought. Some features won’t be available during the trial phase, but they become accessible after purchasing a license.
