Hi there, sorry to bother you. I ran into a situation where my PC froze after attempting an upgrade. I had a Ryzen 5 2600 processor, 8GB of DDR4 RAM (4GB at 2400MHz), and a 16GB RAM stick. Initially, I tried a 3600MHz version but it wouldn’t boot either. Then I switched to the 500W Power Supply from Thermaltake, which might have been the issue. I also experimented with different RAM configurations without any changes to the BIOS.

My motherboard appears to be outdated for the newer RAM type, and I suspect the power supply could have failed under load. There was also a strange smell from the graphics card, and it felt excessively hot inside the case. I attempted to reset the CMOS battery for a few minutes, hoping it would clear any BIOS restrictions, but even then, nothing appeared on the screen. I used both an HDMI monitor and a DVI-to-DVI adapter, but nothing displayed.

The PC powers on, yet it remains completely black. I’ve checked everything else, but the situation is frustrating. After several hours of trying different RAM slots, connections, and even swapping RAM sticks, the display still doesn’t come on. The heat from the GPU was noticeable, and I thought it might be a CMOS or BIOS issue.

I’m worried about the RAM upgrade, as I was hoping it would improve my VR gaming experience. Now everything seems to be stuck in the old configuration, and I’m concerned about potential damage from the PSU. It’s unclear whether a 500W unit could be safe enough, especially with the motherboard and components in question.
