Hello, I'm facing a problem with my PC. It idles between 45-60 degrees for roughly 45 minutes to an hour, then jumps to 75 degrees and stays there until I shut it down. My system specs are: Ryzen 9 5900X, RX 6600, 32GB G.Skill Ripjaw DDR4, 1TB NVMe SSD, 1.5TB NVMe boot drive, 2TB HDD, 650W EVGA PSU, Kraken X63 AIO, Windows 11 64-bit. I'm using the latest BIOS and drivers. I captured a screenshot from Openhardware Monitor. At the moment the PC was sitting idle and displayed this graph with a Chrome window showing the YouTube homepage, Discord, Spotify (not playing), and Steam (not active). I made sure all cables were connected as I recently changed the case and tightened the AIO block. I also verified via NZXT Cam that the AIO is connected and spinning at around 2700-2800 RPM. Thanks, Enspist

It's typical for 5900X to experience these rapid increases when PBO is activated. As long as it doesn't hit 90 degrees or even reach 98 degrees, it should be okay. The exact reason PBO triggers performance and heat isn't clear, but you can disable it in BIOS settings or switch to the motherboard's recommended temperature control. Alternatively, using the Ryzen Controller app can help manage temperatures without constantly checking BIOS.

pay attention to the other guy, Imwilly looks way more knowledgeable than me. It might bother you, but as long as it’s not reaching 90, it’s okay. Try testing while gaming if temperatures rise. It could also mean a sensor is broken and giving incorrect readings. I don’t know how to check that.

It might involve the aio, such as thermal paste. Those are likely the most understandable fixes. The aio pump could be failing, causing overheating or lack of water cooling, or it might not be functioning at all.

That sounds intriguing. I’ll definitely give it a shot since I wasn’t aware PBO would affect the temperatures this way.

I tried playing Halo Infinite because it loads quickly and the temperatures dropped from idle at 75 to around the high 60s to low 70s while the game was running. But once I closed it, the temps went back up to 75 again. I think it’s a good thing the temps stay under 75, but I’m confused about why this happens.

Consider reaching out to Ryzen regarding this matter.

So Core temp shows the CPU at 75 degrees as well. which means either the CPU is actually at 75 degrees or theres something wrong with a sensor

The readings match the sensor, so it seems accurate. Your idle temperature is about 20°C with some variation, which is normal. It looks like it's an AIO.
