I have a 5800X with Eco Mode 65W active. Just closed my game and checked Ryzen Master and HWInfo. Core 6 was stuck at 3,725MHz, fully in C0 state. I think this is the maximum boost setting while idle, but only for a short time because of sudden load. This time it remained locked at that speed while others stayed lower, even during normal idle. In Ryzen Master, Core 6 wasn’t in Sleep mode either—it started after I ended the game and noticed after about 10 minutes. I restarted Steam instead of my PC, but it didn’t fix it right away. Around 2-3 minutes later, Core 6 matched the other cores’ speed. What caused this? It’s unusual. I played for a few hours, temps stayed normal (max 73°C, max voltage 1.44V), and voltages were typical. Why would one core get stuck at that frequency? I ran SFC and DISM, checked MalwareBytes and Windows Defender—nothing found. No updates or scans scheduled. All chipsets are current. Now clocks look fine, but I haven’t played again to confirm.
I think there might be more going on than just idle issues. A lot of things in Windows can push a single core to its limit even when you believe it's idle. If this keeps happening, open Task Manager to check what's occurring. It could be Windows Update or Defender handling itself, especially after a fresh boot if the PC hasn't been used recently.
It seems I might have been too concerned. In Event Viewer there were no updates or error reports, and the Task Manager showed minimal activity—just around 6% usage with nothing obvious happening.
