As the title says, some mailto link keeps trying to open. I don't know whether something is stuck in a loop or what, but it happens randomly- anywhere between immediately and a couple hours, has been happening for over a week, and happens with or without any mouse/keyboard input after turning the computer on. (I sometimes let it sleep and sometimes shut it down, but this happens in both instances.)
Further info: Initially, I didn't have it set up to use a program so it opened the 'select a default program' window. But it kept happening, so I selected firefox. However, it continued to try and do something, so multiple blank firefox windows would open. So I changed the default to outlook, since I don't use the service.
That just made the outlook login window open instead. Saving grace was it only opening once (well, twice, with the second being an 'another dialogue box is open' error), so I could just... leave it open and ignore it. But I got tired of it, so I uninstalled Office 365, and now the initial 'select a default program' window opens instead. Honestly a worse outcome because clicking outside that window closes it, so it reopens over and over anyway.
I've turned off all non-microsoft startup programs and processes, done a couple scans to make sure nothing untoward is anywhere it shouldn't be and cleaned up files, and experimented both before and after installing the latest windows update. I'm not sure what else I can do. Is there a way to disable the mailto function since I never use it anyway? Or is there another fix?
Edit: My keyboard suddenly borked itself, which makes me think that might somehow be the issue. I shall update if that's the case ><;;;
