As mentioned in the title, I'm experiencing an issue with Mafia II. When the game starts, the intro with PhysX by Nvidia appears, but the video intro doesn't show up. The main menu doesn't open, and the game remains stuck in black. I can use Alt-Tab, open Task Manager, but it doesn't display "Not responding." After closing the game from Task Manager and trying again, the same issue persists. I've attempted to reinstall the game, removed the video configuration file, reinstalled PhysX, used compatibility mode for Windows 7, ran the game as an administrator, and even tried Steam with admin rights. The issue began recently: last night I tried installing a trainer to enjoy Mafia 2 after completing several story sessions. I've already downloaded the trainer and followed the installation instructions, but the game launched properly initially. However, my save file disappeared, so I had to use a backup copy, which didn't work. The game eventually reached the main menu without saving, then I reinstalled it again, only to face the same problem now. After five reinstalls—two on drive C and three on drive D—I can't play the game anymore. I've done everything correctly, so please let me know if anyone can assist.
