Shutting down an app on a Mac differs from simply reducing its activity. They represent distinct actions.

Sure, let me check the details for you. If the app stays open without closing fully and restarts easily, it’s likely a simple minimization issue. Otherwise, there might be other performance concerns.

Think like a Windows user. Macs don’t need any app to show a window or save things in compressed memory. That’s exactly how it works.

He explained that closing something means removing a Windows application completely, which is the same as reducing its usage. He also mentioned that doing this can make your system run slower due to the resources background programs consume.

The window is missing, all open tabs vanish. Launching Chrome brings up a fresh empty page. Don't overlook the fact that many don't understand how systems function; they persist in believing removing apps on Android or iOS boosts performance and saves power.

The advantages of choosing "closing" instead of "giving up" again are clear. It offers a way to end things decisively while maintaining control and clarity.

Currently, there aren't many advantages—it's just a remnant of an era when slow hard drives were typical. However, altering its functionality now could be more frustrating for users.

All the apps are even more annoying when you manually command them.

It's actually not like that. Shifting how things have been done for nearly twenty years will only frustrate more people than those who are used to pressing cmd + q instead of clicking the red x. Plus, you don't have to close an app. This won't affect battery life or performance in any significant way.

It seems like you're questioning whether it still matters. That's understandable!
