I'm attempting to transfer my Win10 system from my laptop to the desktop's SSD drive using the free 8 version. The initial view displays the source, partitioned data, and continues using "disk" references when asked about the disk location. I'm not aiming for a full clone but want Macrium to copy my Windows 10 to a USB drive and then transfer that information to the desktop. How can I make Macrium do this, or is it possible?

Place it on the desktop and ask about its purpose.

a clone is not an installer.
it is a full duplicate of the drive intended for transfer to another device, designed to run on the same system it was made for.
if you wish to install win 10, obtain the iso from msd: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software.../windows10
generate the usb installer and then apply windows from it

This will fail for multiple reasons. You can't take the laptop OS and put it in a desktop and expect it to work You can't create a Windows install from an already installed OS If you got this 'clone' onto the flash drive, then what would you do with it? If you're just trying to install Windows on the desktop, this: How To - Windows 10 clean install tutorial If you are looking for the Windows 11 Clean install tutorial, you can find that here: Windows 11 Clean install tutorial (Click here) Otherwise, welcome to the Windows 10 Clean install tutorial This tutorial is intended to help you, step by step, to perform a clean install of Windows... forums.

I've reviewed the tutorial and it clearly outlines the challenges of installing Windows 10 on an SSD hard drive. I've attempted at least a dozen times using the installation tool, but all I receive is the Cortana voice recording, with no system detected. I searched for similar experiences and saw posts from moderators. Thinking about cloning a system might help, and Google confirms it's possible... Is Google incorrect?

"is Google wrong? " is a question that has no meaning.
Google will provide links that are related to whatever you put int he text box.
If you said "Can I clone a system?"
Google would provide a LOT of links to tools to do that, and probably some tutorials.
But if you had instead entered: "Can I clone my laptop OS to a flash drive and run my desktop from that, or use that to install a Windows OS in the desktop?"....google would have returned nothing, because you can't do that.
Very much of an X/Y problem.
Cloning has nothing to do with this.
From your previous threads, you're having an issue installing Windows to your desktop, correct?
To start, please give us a FULL list of all the parts in this system.
Secondly, the exact steps you take to install this, and exactly where it fails.

Another illustration of google + X/Y Issues...
Q: "Every time I bake a chocolate cake, it turns out wrong. What are some suitable cake recipes?"
Google will provide you with many cake recipes, most of which are decent.
But the real question is:
Q: "Every time I bake a chocolate cake, it doesn’t turn out right. My oven isn’t reaching 350 degrees. How can I fix it?"
This results in a completely different set of answers from google.
There was no issue with the recipe or with google itself. The problem lay with the oven."

I summarized everything in one of these posts. I don’t like repeating myself much. To add, installing Windows 10 on an SSD seems tricky for me. I haven’t tried it yet, but maybe changing the BIOS to legacy mode could help. For my desktop setup… it’s a build unit without an OS, 8GB RAM, a 7-year-old hard drive, and an A88X-Pro processor. By the way, I used to have Windows 10 before, because it came free with updates, but it crashed after the October update on an SATA HDD.

It doesn't take much effort to install WIn 10 on an SSD compared to an HDD.
Nevertheless, this 'clone' method isn't the answer.
