I have a 2012 iMac using High Sierra, an Apple TV 3, and a Sony AV Receiver. The Apple TV is connected to one HDMI port on the Sony, while the iMac connects directly via TBOTL->HDMI. Issue: Apple MIDI controls aren’t visible, even though I have 5.1 or 7.1 options available. Note: Both HDMI and the Apple TV (BeagleTV) display only two outputs. Setting up speakers doesn’t provide multi-channel playback. Based on what I understand, I should be able to access those settings but am missing them. Any advice?

You have stereo or 2.0 surround support, but there are no options for pulling down multiple channels.

Connected via optical digital, but only stereo choices appear. It seems the receiver is configured properly, so I’ll explore alternative settings.
