My dad faces an odd problem with his MacBook Air M1. With the external monitor plugged in, it powers down when he closes the case. Only one of his two USB docks causes this—his Lenovo 40AF, which is wall-powered, supports multiple ports and uses DisplayLink for better performance. It can also charge via a single cable, and the monitor stays on. The other dock is basic, relying on the internal adapter and still charges but turns off when he closes the lid. The main difference seems to be the dock type. What’s happening? The display functions properly when the lid is open.
